This Privacy Policy describes how Card Capsule (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use snipe.cardcapsule.com (the “Service”), our auction bidding service for eBay. This policy supplements the Card Capsule Privacy Policy at cardcapsule.com/policies/privacy-policy. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form using our authentication provider; we never store or have access to your plaintext password.

eBay account authorization. To place bids on your behalf, the Service uses eBay’s official authorization (OAuth) system. When you link your eBay account, you sign in on eBay’s own website and grant us permission. We receive authorization tokens from eBay; we never see, ask for, or store your eBay password. Authorization tokens are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before being stored, and are used solely to place bids you schedule, to refresh your authorization, and to check the status of your bids. You can revoke this authorization at any time from your eBay account settings (under third-party app access) or by unlinking your eBay account within the Service. eBay authorizations also expire automatically, typically after 18 months.

Snipe and bidding information. We store the auction listings you choose to snipe, your maximum bid amounts, your timing preferences, and a log of bid attempts and their results. This is necessary to provide the Service and to show you your bidding history.

Usage information. We collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and interactions with the Service, used for security, debugging, and improving the Service.

2. How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate the Service: authenticating you, placing bids you schedule on your eBay account, notifying you about your snipes (for example, when a bid is placed or an auction is won or lost), providing customer support, and maintaining the security of the Service. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

3. Listing data from eBay

Auction details displayed in the Service (titles, images, prices, end times) are retrieved from eBay’s APIs. This data is about marketplace listings, not about you. Card Capsule is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay Inc.

4. Service providers

We share information only with the service providers required to run the Service: our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our hosting providers, and our email delivery provider (for account and snipe notifications). Each provider processes data only on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention and deletion

We retain your account information and bidding history while your account is active. If you unlink your eBay account, your authorization tokens are deleted immediately. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at info@cardcapsule.com; we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption of eBay authorization tokens at rest (AES-256), encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic, and access controls that restrict token access to the systems that place your bids. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
